Did someone say Pau Hana? If you had any doubts before, the best hour(s) of your day should also be the happiest.
Check out our list of the best happy hours in each area of the island, and enjoy some amazing cocktails in tropical paradise.
The Mill House Bar - Waikapu
Held daily from 3 to 5pm, our brand new Mill House Happy Hour is the perfect place to celebrate your afternoon in a beautiful, relaxing setting with fresh flavors of the island. We offer great deals on pupus, cocktails, beer and wine, and guests will love the direct view from our newly renovated lanai overlooking the Maui Tropical Plantation duck pond and West Maui Mountains.
Our cocktail menu is hands down one of the most innovative and unique on Maui, including favorites like the Irish Coffee with cold brew Maui coffee, vanilla bean and hand-whipped cream, as well as the Handmade Bloody Mary and Slack Key with Campari, White Koloa Rum, Lilikoi, Cold-Pressed Sugarcane and Lemon. Yum!
808 on Main - Wailuku
From the creators of the popular Kihei sandwich shop 808 Deli, 808 on Main is the newest addition to the food scene in Wailuku Town. Head here Monday through Friday for Happy Hour from 4 to 7pm, where you'll enjoy $2 off all pupus, including the highly recommended Mediterranean Nachos with Ni'ihau lamb, feta, tzakiki sauce and Greek salsa, Kimchi Pork Balls with goat cheese, panko crust and sambal aioli, or others like Buffalo Brussel Sprouts, Spicy Chicken Wings, Lamb Lettuce Wraps and Kimchi Hummus.
The laid-back atmosphere paired with delicious food, drink specials and an interesting cocktail menu make this one of the best new spots for afternoon drinks with friends in central Maui.
Cafe des Amis - Paia
A longtime favorite in Paia Town on Maui's north shore, Cafe des Amis offers daily Happy Hour from 4 to 6pm. Get there early to grab a seat in the cozy outdoor courtyard, where you can enjoy live music entertainment, half priced wine, beer, margaritas, sangria and mai tais.
We particularly love the Lilikoi Margaritas with a shared appetizer like the Vegetarian Mediterranean Platter with hummus, olives, garlic artichoke salad, feta, roasted vegetables, pesto and pita bread, or the Mixed Platter with salami, prosciutto, brie, cheddar, olive tapenade and bread.
Cafe Mambo - Paia
A bright, airy restaurant in the heart of Paia Town, we also love Cafe Mambo's Happy Hour, daily from 3 to 6pm. Featuring $3.75 draft beers and $4.75 cocktails (excluding mimosas and top shelf margaritas), head here after a day soaking up the sun at Baldwin Beach or browsing nearby shops and local art galleries.
Also keep an eye out for live music performances, which often have the added bonus of Happy Hour specials later into evening hours. For food, grab an order of the Crispy Duck Fajitas or Kalua Pork Mambo Nachos to go with your local beer.
Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar - Kihei
Often attracting an anticipatory line out the door, Sundays and Mondays draw a crowd for Sansei's 50% off specials, which include nearly all menu items, from 5 to 6pm. With a full bar and generous sake menu (at least for Maui standards), we recommend arriving early to secure a spot in line. The Panko Crusted Ahi Roll, Crab Ramen with Asian Truffle Broth and Shrimp Dynamite are popular menu items.
For less of a daytime crowd (but a different kind of crowd altogether), we recommend the late night Happy Hour on Thursdays through Saturdays from 10pm to 1am, which also includes lively karaoke performances.
Monkeypod Kitchen - Wailea
Located on the second level in the Wailea Gateway Center, Monkeypod offers twice daily Happy Hour, perfect for those perpetually late or perpetually early for dinner, from both 3 to 5:30pm and 9 to 11pm. The lanai offers excellent panoramic sunset views, while the inside often includes live music and a bustling dining and socializing scene.
While $9.50 for specialty cocktails may not sound like a happy hour deal on the mainland, take our word for it that these cocktails pack a punch, and include delicious, housemade local ingredients. Other specials include $4.75 draft beers (or $3 off any beer over $9), $6 Ocean Vodka cocktails, $7 house wines, half priced appetizers and $9 pizzas (excluding a couple options). Service is always top notch, too.
Sea House Restaurant
The only beachside location to make our Happy Hour list, Sea House Restaurant offers gorgeous views of Napili Bay, with both indoor and outdoor tables, as well as an amazing view from the bar top. Offering daily Happy Hour from 2 to 5pm, guests can enjoy 50% off all appetizers, including items like the Poke Nachos with wasabi cream and roasted pepper aioli, Panko Crusted Blue Crab Cakes, 5 Onion Soup and Polynesian Chopped Salad, as well as great deals on specialty cocktails, beer, and wines by the glass.
During winter months, this scenic restaurant also doubles as an excellent place to whale watch!
Sangrita Grill + Cantina
Located in the Fairway Shops in Ka'anapali, Sangrita Grill offers some of the best Mexican food in West Maui. What they lack in a view, they make up for in a huge tequila menu. Daily Happy Hour is held from 4 to 6pm, though we recommend arriving at 4pm to enjoy 50% off all food menu items ordered before 5pm.
Our favorite menu items include the Chipotle-Pineapple Guacamole, Kick Ass Carnitas and Fried Oyster Tacos. Happy Hour drink specials last till 6pm and include $3 Mexican draft beer, $6 wines, $6 Ocean Vodka cocktails, and $7 Margaritas, such as the Skinny Mango, Hibiscus, Lilikoi or regular House varieties.
Casanova Italian Restaurant
If you plan on visiting Upcountry Maui and are searching for a place to enjoy drinks or live music with friends or family, Casanova offers Happy Hour in the heart of paniolo (cowboy) town. A long-running Italian favorite and late night dance spot, head here between 5 and 6pm Monday through Saturday to enjoy half-liter carafes of Chianti, Pinot Grigio, mojitos or margaritas.
Open for nearly three decades, an order of the Caesar Salad and Romana Wood Fired Pizza with goat cheese, roasted red peppers, thyme and garlic will go well with your chosen carafe.
Stopwatch Sports Bar & Grill
If you're in search of a good dive bar in paradise, welcome to Stopwatch. Located centrally in Makawao Town in Upcountry Maui, Stopwatch's Happy Hour is held daily from 3:30 to 6:30pm and includes $1 off draft beers, select wines, and well cocktails.
Well known as a biker bar and cowboy hangout, you'll find the menu doesn't go beyond standard bar food. However, you're sure to enjoy the live music performances and dancing into later hours of the evening at this casual Upcountry hangout.
Hana Ranch Restaurant
If you've made it to Hana, you're probably aware that options for dining, and especially happy hour, are extremely limited. However, Hana Ranch Restaurant offers the only Happy Hour in town, including daily specials on cocktails from 4 to 6pm, as well as $5 Mai Tai Mondays.
Besides that, drinks in your hotel, cabin or tent will have to do.
