The Mill House is excited to announce two very special evenings of Maui Chef’s Table. We invite you to join us and experience the cooking and company of three of Hawaii’s best chefs. Chef Eddie Lopez and Chef Sheldon Simeon will join Mill House Executive Chef Jeff Scheer for two nights of Maui Chef’s Table collaborations on Friday, August 12th and Saturday, August 13th.
Each week Chef Scheer creates a seven-course menu based on local ingredients and recent inspiration. The menu is then brought to life for an intimate group of diners in our open-air kitchen. Maui Chef’s Table is an interactive experience; guests get a close up look at each course as it is crafted and are welcome to ask questions and to learn about the inspiration and ingredients of each course. Born and raised in the south side of Chicago, Chef Eddie Lopez embarked upon a specialty in pastry early on in his career, working on the pastry teams at Chicago’s The Signature Room and then at the acclaimed restaurant, Blackbird. In 2010, Eddie set his sights west for a position at The French Laundry, and with an exceptional knack for working with chocolate, he became the restaurant’s primary chocolatier. Eddie returned to Chicago in 2013 to work as a cook and chocolatier on the opening team at Grace. After an unexpected job offer in Honolulu, he followed his sense of adventure to the islands, taking on a position as pastry chef at the lauded Vintage Cave in 2014. Falling for Hawaii’s laid-back charm and the opportunity to bring his talents to Honolulu’s restaurant community, Eddie decided to make Hawaii home. Eddie is currently opening Senia in Honolulu as their Pastry Chef.
Born in Hilo, Chef Sheldon acquired his love for cooking from his parents. His path led from the Culinary Institute of the Pacific to an internship at Walt Disney World. Upon returning to Hawaii, Sheldon attended Maui Culinary Academy then landed at the acclaimed Star Noodle. Sheldon competed in the 10th season of Bravo Network’s Top Chef as a finalist and won Fan Favorite. His recent ventures include Migrant Restaurant and the newly opened and highly acclaimed Tin Roof.
Raised in Ohio, Jeff Scheer learned his way around the kitchen from his grandmother, who had a talent for simple and flavorful food. After working in kitchens throughout Maui, Jeff attended the Maui Culinary Academy. Once he tapped into the island’s local offerings and produce, he felt his creativity kick into high gear. Jeff started Maui Executive Catering in Haiku. He also began hosting Chef’s Table events, pulling down the proverbial wizard’s curtain and showing guests how fun, interactive and unpretentious cooking can be. In 2015, Jeff earned the coveted ‘Aipono Award title of “Chef of the Year” and became the Executive Chef at The Mill House Restaurant.
Join us for one of these unique culinary evenings, surrounded by farmland, at the Maui Tropical Plantation. The menu for Friday, August 12th and Saturday, August 13th will be planned by Chefs Lopez, Simeon, and Scheer. These three Chefs will be present and hosting both nights of Chef’s Table. Tickets are $190 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Wine, beer and specialty cocktails are available for purchase during Chef’s Table. Sorry, no outside alcohol is allowed on the premise.
A Note on Dietary Restrictions: We apologize, but Maui Chef’s Table is unable to accommodate special dietary requests. Chef Scheer creates each course from scratch, infusing each component with a variety of fresh ingredients, often chosen only in the hours leading up to the event. Our goal is to create a unique, all-encompassing dining experience that remains true to his vision for the evening. Mahalo!
